Upon college graduation, Darwyn worked as a mortgage analyst for a national mortgage company.  He left the company after 9 months and started his own real estate development firm in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  He left that industry 3 years later and started a corporate cost reduction firm specializing in reducing property taxes, utility bills, telephone bills and workers compensation insurance rates for companies across the country.  While serving as CEO of that company, the company was named to the prestigious “Inc. 500” list for 3 consecutive years in the early 90’s.  (The “Inc. 500” is Inc. Magazine’s annual listing of the fastest growing private companies in America.)

In 1994, Darwyn sold his interest in that company and started Environmental Waste Solutions, LLC (EWS).  EWS focuses on reducing the cost of waste disposal and recycling for companies across North America.  As a small “2-man shop”, EWS had first-year sales of $200,000.

Over the next 16 years, Darwyn has grown EWS into the national leader in waste management consulting with annual revenue approaching $20 million.  EWS maintains administrative offices in Baton Rouge, LA, Tampa, FL, Sarasota, FL, New York City, and San Diego, CA.  Additionally, EWS has over 500 Affiliate Offices across North America and services over 16,000 client locations, including Coca-Cola Bottling, Wendy’s International, Albertson’s Supermarkets, Goodwill Industries, Knowledge Learning Corp., 7-Eleven, Inc., Red Robin, Love’s Travel Stop, Tenant Hospitals, Winn Dixie Supermarkets, US Beef, IHOP, and many many more.

Darwyn has served on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations and is an active community volunteer.  He has been a popular national speaker on entrepreneurship for almost 20 years and has been featured in news stories in Inc. Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine, Business Start-Ups Magazine, Opportunity Magazine, and Small Business Opportunities Magazine.

EWS is a member of the Better Business Bureau, the National Business Opportunity Bureau, the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, the National Recycling Coalition, and the Solid Waste Association of North America.  EWS actively supports the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, The Andre Agassi Charter School (sponsoring several student tuition scholarships), and St. Jude’s Children Hospitals.

Darwyn is an avid golfer and resides in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Henderson, NV and devotes many hours volunteering his time to community service and outreach programs in both states.
